Baseball Recap: Cliffside Park Has No Trouble Against Lodi

Cliffside Park came out on top against Lodi on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Rams. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Victor Freytas and Freddy Fland did most of the damage at the plate: Freytas got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI, while Fland got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Freytas has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jayden Akkus, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Cliffside Park has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-14 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Lodi, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14-1.

Coincidentally, Cliffside Park and Lodi will both be playing Becton the next time they take the field. The Rams will head out to face the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Raiders will head out to face them at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
