After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Quincy, Portola was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Plumas Charter Warriors 22-2. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by seven runs or more this season.
Clara Klemesrud was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ainsleigh Pruitt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Kylie Morton was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Portola was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Plumas Charter only posted a batting average of .188.
Portola's record is now 12-7-1. As for Plumas Charter, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12-1.
