Blacksburg is a perfect 10-0 against Hidden Valley since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bruins will face off against the Titans at 5:00 p.m. Blacksburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Blacksburg and Cave Spring have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Bruins came up short against the Knights, falling 11-1.
Blacksburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelyn Williams, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Hidden Valley came out on top against Patrick Henry on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Titans beat the Patriots by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-5. Considering the Titans have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
ASHTON WOODSON made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, BAILEY HALL was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. CARLIE PLUNKETT was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
The win made it two in a row for Hidden Valley and bumps their season record up to 4-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Blacksburg, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Blacksburg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Hidden Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .389. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Blacksburg beat Hidden Valley 13-9 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Bruins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
