This season hasn't been kind to the Jackson Red Devils, who are still winless after their ninth game. They took a 65-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ola. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Jackson's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kevan Gray, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds, and Josh Goodrum who scored 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Goodrum grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Jaden Roberts, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Jackson bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Ola, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.
Jackson will square off against Jasper County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ola will be home for the holidays to greet Jones County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Jones County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
