For the second straight game, Sultana will face off against Hesperia. The Sultans will square off against the Scorpions at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sultana has 14 straight victories, Hesperia has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Sultana made easy work of Hesperia and carried off a 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Sultans, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Eric Ruiz and LJ Borrego were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ruiz pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Borrego tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, Ruiz posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Ruiz went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Borrego went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Borrego has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.
In other batting news, Gage Reimers was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Reyes, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Sultana was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in three consecutive games.
Sultana pushed their record up to 18-2-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hesperia, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
Hesperia's pitching crew better be locked in on Thursday. Sultana hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. It's a different story for Hesperia, though, as they've been averaging only 0 home runs. Will they be able to keep Sultana in the park?
