The Waterloo Cougars's game on January 13th was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 55-42 win over Vina. That's another feather in the cap for Waterloo, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Vina's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Layla Hester, who scored 19 points along with two steals, and Mikala Mitchell who scored seven points along with six rebounds and five assists. Hester is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Kaley Attaway was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds.
Waterloo has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Vina, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-16.
Waterloo's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lindsay Lane Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th. As for Vina, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hubbertville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
