The match between Franklin and Oakwood wasn't particularly close, with Franklin falling 64-47. Franklin has struggled against Oakwood recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Franklin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Black, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Black pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kai Cook, who scored 12 points.
Franklin's lineup was just a bit different on Friday as Trey Newsome got a bit more time on the court (22 vs. his season average of 10.25). Newsome made the most of the opportunity, scoring nine points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Franklin has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season. As for Oakwood, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4.
