Basketball Recap: Santaluces Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lake Worth

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santaluces). They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat the Lake Worth Trojans 63-24. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Chiefs with their most commanding win of the season.

Leading Santaluces to victory were Jaedeyn Garvin and Lyiah Gaitor. Garvin dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, while Gaitor dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 boards. The dominant performance also gave Gaitor a new career-high in blocks (seven). Another player making a difference was Keyonna Jerido, who posted nine points.

Santaluces smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Worth only pulled down six offensive boards.

Despite the defeat, Lake Worth saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jocilynne Sweeney went 6 of 12 on her way to 16 points and four steals. Sweeney is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Milan Smith, who had four points and eight rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Santaluces and bumps their season record up to 9-5. As for Lake Worth, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Santaluces didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 30-29 loss against Wellington on the 9th. As for Lake Worth, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 38-15 defeat against Royal Palm Beach on the 9th.
