After losing to the Prairie Heights Panthers the last time they met, the Fort Wayne Canterbury Cavaliers decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Fort Wayne Canterbury walked away with a 56-43 win over Prairie Heights on Tuesday. Given Fort Wayne Canterbury's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while Prairie Heights is ranked 422nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fort Wayne Canterbury got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Colin Burda out in front who scored 12 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burda has scored all season. Devon Lewis was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Prairie Heights saw an underclassman step up: Cade Bachelor scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jake Stoy, who scored 11 points.
Fort Wayne Canterbury has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Prairie Heights, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Fort Wayne Canterbury will face off against New Haven at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Wayne Canterbury has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 374 points over their last six contests. As for Prairie Heights, they will be playing at home against Westview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westview will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Prairie Heights surely won't give up without a fight.
