The Maranatha Christian Academy Eagles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 74-28 loss at the hands of Cair Paravel. Maranatha Christian Academy has struggled against Cair Paravel recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Jesiah Bonura continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cair Paravel, rushing for 185 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries, while also picking up 40 receiving yards. Bonura was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Another player making a difference was Jase Pavlik, who threw for 68 yards and three touchdowns.
Maranatha Christian Academy's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Lyndon and 5-3 Burlingame (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 71.9% over those games). As for Cair Paravel, the win was the fourth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Maranatha Christian Academy will head out on the road to face off against Yates Center at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Yates Center comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Cair Paravel, they have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Sedan at 6:00 p.m. on October 27th. Sedan is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
