Baseball Recap: Dallastown Drops Highest Score of Season Against Dover

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dallastown). They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Dover Eagles on Thursday. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Alex McGurk tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Logan Kessler was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Dallastown: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Landon Williams, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Dallastown now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Dover, their record now sits at 2-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dallastown will square off against Red Lion at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.9, the Lions 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Dover, they will host Spring Grove at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
