The Bellefontaine Chieftains are taking a road trip to challenge the Indian Lake Lakers at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Bellefontaine is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
North Union hit Bellefontaine with a five-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chieftains fell 7-4 to the Wildcats.

Joy Fogan put in work while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits. Fogan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, Indian Lake got the win against Tecumseh on Friday by a conclusive 14-2. Considering the Lakers have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Bellefontaine, Indian Lake also got a great game from a two-way player: Bre Wisener. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Wisener was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Annie Rapp, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Dixon, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Indian Lake hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.
Indian Lake is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bellefontaine, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bellefontaine hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .382. However, it's not like Indian Lake struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bellefontaine suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Indian Lake when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Chieftains avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
