Basketball Game Preview: Point Loma Pointers vs. Crawford Colts

Point Loma is 6-1 against Crawford since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Point Loma Pointers will face off against the Crawford Colts at 5:45 p.m. Point Loma is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Point Loma is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Marshall two weeks ago. Point Loma fell just short of Marshall by a score of 41-39.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from River Hargett, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Hannah Smith was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Point Loma smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Crawford suffered their biggest loss since January 22, 2024 on Friday. They were outmatched by Christian and fell 76-31. The defeat continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now lost five in a row.

Point Loma's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Crawford, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Point Loma strolled past Crawford in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 by a score of 49-33. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Crawford's Fatuma Abdi, who posted 13 points and three steals.
