The Calhoun Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 50-40 to Doddridge County. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Calhoun in their matchups with Doddridge County: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the defeat, Calhoun had strong showings from Landon Bennett, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 steals, and Owen Taylor, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Bennett also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Dylan Buckius was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
Calhoun has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Doddridge County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calhoun will take on Van at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (Van is ranked 118th, while Calhoun is ranked 109th). As for Doddridge County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Ritchie County at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Ritchie County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Tuesday.
