The North Stokes Vikings will challenge the South Stokes Sauras at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Stokes is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
North Stokes' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Salem Baptist Christian 17-0. North Stokes has beaten Salem Baptist Christian the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Salem Baptist Christian has come to flipping the script.
Evan Woods was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cash Dalton, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Ryan Smith was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
North Stokes was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but South Stokes ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over Starmount.
Like North Stokes, South Stokes also got a great game from a two-way player: Tucker Monday. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Monday was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ryan Duggins was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for South Stokes: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Samuel Kidd, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one double.
North Stokes' win bumped their record up to 17-7. As for South Stokes, their victory bumped their record up to 10-13.
North Stokes was able to grind out a solid win over South Stokes when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 5-1. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Sauras have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
