Spanish Fork is a perfect 4-0 against Mountain View since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Dons will take on the Bruins at 3:30 p.m. Spanish Fork will be strutting in after a win while Mountain View will be coming in after a loss.
Spanish Fork took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Maple Mountain, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Dons had just enough and edged out the Golden Eagles 7-6 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Dons have posted since April 14, 2025.
Paizley Boman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Lia Higginson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Taylani Reid also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Spanish Fork hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Mountain View lost 12-4 to Lone Peak on Thursday. The matchup marked the Bruins' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Saralynn Hair was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emily Telford, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Spanish Fork pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Spanish Fork hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Spanish Fork's way against Mountain View in their previous meeting back in May of 2019, as Spanish Fork made off with a 20-0 win. Do the Dons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bruins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
