The Pineapple Cove Classical Academy Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 72-54 to Naples Classical.
Despite the loss, Pineapple Cove Classical Academy saw an underclassman step up: Michael Barna scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Matthew Barna, who scored 11 points along with four steals and two blocks.
Naples Classical found their leader in underclassman Daniel Coldiron, who scored 37 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Coldiron has scored at least a third of Naples Classical's points. Colman Gillen was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Pineapple Cove Classical Academy's defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-13. As for Naples Classical, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
Pineapple Cove Classical Academy will head out on the road to square off against St. Edward's at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Naples Classical, they will take on Tournament Opponent at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
