Grantsville faced Uintah in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cowboys had just enough and edged out the Utes 9-8. Winning may never get old, but the Cowboys sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Payten Bytheway was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kira Hart was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. AlyBree Rogers also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Grantsville pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games.
