After four games on the road, Foundation Christian Academy is heading back home. The Foundation Christian Academy Panthers and the Academy at the Lakes Wildcats will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
Foundation Christian Academy suffered their biggest loss since December 16, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 75-41 loss at the hands of Brandon Academy. Foundation Christian Academy was down 66-27 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Micah Sanders put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. That was a full 48.8% of Foundation Christian Academy's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Riley Hiestand, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Academy at the Lakes has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top against Hernando Christian Academy by a score of 58-51 on Friday.
Academy at the Lakes' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nabil Delacurz, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Matty Vreeland was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Foundation Christian Academy now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Academy at the Lakes, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13.
Foundation Christian Academy barely slipped by Academy at the Lakes in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, winning 66-65. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Vreeland, who scored 24 points.
