Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Checotah). They walked away with a 74-64 victory over the Stilwell Indians on Tuesday. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 79-27 win the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Despite the defeat, Stilwell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ava Swafford went 10 for 17 on her way to 25 points in addition to five boards and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Swafford has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alena Vann, who posted eight points.
Checotah now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Stilwell, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Checotah will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Eufaula at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Stilwell, they will head out to face off against Glenpool at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stilwell has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
