The Corona del Mar Sea Kings will venture away from home to square off against the Villa Park Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Corona del Mar is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Saturday, Corona del Mar didn't have too much trouble with Newport Harbor as they won 21-6. Given the Sea Kings' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Sailors are ranked 143rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Corona del Mar's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Kuchera, who rushed for 74 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Sea Kings also got help from Garrett James, who showed off his sure hands for 89 receiving yards.
Corona del Mar didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Newport Harbor to a completion percentage of just 48.4%. The team can thank Tucker Murray for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Corona del Mar; they were averaging 65%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three games they've fallen to only 65%.
Corona del Mar's defense also made the game a nightmare for Jordan Spigarelli, racking up seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Alexander Nickin and Scott Anderson, who racked up five sacks between them. Nickin has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last three times he's played. Another thorn in Newport Harbor's side was Cash Pearsall, who picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last contest, Villa Park made sure to put some points up on the board against Tesoro on Friday. The Spartans strolled past the Titans with points to spare, taking the game 42-24.
Corona del Mar better keep an eye on Matt Smith. He was instrumental in Villa Park's win, throwing for 206 yards and two TDs on only 18 passes, while also punching in one score on the ground.
Corona del Mar's record is now 7-0. As for Villa Park, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Corona del Mar ended up a good deal behind Villa Park in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, losing 28-14. Can the Sea Kings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
