It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Everman Bulldogs can now relate to. Their tough 42-19 loss to South Oak Cliff on Thursday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Everman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 216th, while South Oak Cliff is ranked 33rd).
Everman's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Mcmillian, who picked up 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Kay?Den Brooks, who rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
It was another big night for Khalil Ewell, who rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Ewell hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. Danny Green Jr and his 122 yards on the ground were also a key factor in South Oak Cliff's win.
Everman has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for South Oak Cliff, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Everman does not have any more games scheduled as of now. South Oak Cliff will take on Melissa at 7:00 p.m. on November 18th. Melissa is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
