Hillsborough has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Countryside Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Hillsborough didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Knights, but they still walked away with a 76-70 victory.
Meanwhile, Countryside had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They blew past Anclote, posting a 62-26 win on the road. Given Countryside's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Sharks are ranked 687th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Countryside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Corey Perlin, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Carson Lamb was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Hillsborough's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-13. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.7 points per game. As for Countryside, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.
