Carbon has gone a perfect 7-0 against Providence Hall recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Dinos will host the Patriots at 3:30 p.m. Carbon has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with five straight defeats, while Providence Hall will come in with six straight victories.
Carbon fell victim to Union and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 10-0 to the Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Dinos have suffered against the Cougars since April 2, 2019.
Meanwhile, Providence Hall made easy work of Juan Diego Catholic on Tuesday and carried off a 12-5 win. Considering the Patriots have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Taycee Metts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. Metts was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Hailey Lenz and Baylie Julian did most of the damage at the plate: Lenz went 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Julian got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Ireland Anderson was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Providence Hall hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in ten consecutive games.
Providence Hall pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.8 runs over those games. As for Carbon, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Carbon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Providence Hall struggles in that department as they've averaged .429. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Carbon took their victory against Providence Hall in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 13-3 score. Do the Dinos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
