The South Austin W Warriors are on the road again on Thursday and play against the St. Stephen's Episcopal Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. South Austin W will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1261st, while St. Stephen's Episcopal is ranked 255th).
South Austin W's 12-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were outmatched by New Braunfels Christian Academy on the road and fell 70-35.
Meanwhile, St. Stephen's Episcopal had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat San Marcos Academy 71-37 at home.
St. Stephen's Episcopal can attribute much of their success to Gabriel Sahely, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. The game was Sahely's third in a row with at least ten points. Kenrik Kabano was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
South Austin W's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for St. Stephen's Episcopal, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
South Austin W took their victory against St. Stephen's Episcopal when the teams last played back in January of 2016 by a conclusive 45-21. Will South Austin W repeat their success, or does St. Stephen's Episcopal have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
