Basketball Recap: Roaring Fork Skates Past Gunnison with Ease

Roaring Fork won the last time they faced Gunnison and things went their way on Saturday too. The Roaring Fork Rams really took it to the Gunnison Cowboys for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-41 win. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roaring Fork to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kiko Pena, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Pena a new career-high in shooting accuracy (80%). Lucas Carballeira was another key player, going 7 of 14 en route to 18 points and eight boards.

Roaring Fork was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Roaring Fork is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points over those games. As for Gunnison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.

Coming up, Roaring Fork will head out to face off against Meeker at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Roaring Fork is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season. As for Gunnison, they will be playing at home against Crested Butte at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
