The Wayne Badgers's game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against Escalante by a score of 56-44. That's another feather in the cap for Wayne, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Among those leading the charge was Blake Peterson, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Batty, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Escalante still got an impressive performance from Jaxen Cottam, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. Cottam continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Korben Young was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Escalante struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Wayne racked up 15 assists.
Wayne now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Escalante, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne will take on Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Escalante, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Telos at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Telos is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
