The West Cabarrus Wolverines lost against the Lake Norman Wildcats back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. West Cabarrus' tough 78-53 defeat to the Wildcats might stick with them for a while. West Cabarrus has not had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Lake Norman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samantha Shehan, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds. Shehan has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Rhyne, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
West Cabarrus' defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Lake Norman, their win was their 26th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1.
West Cabarrus will head out on the road to take on the Wonders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. A.L. Brown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Wolverines are ranked 120th). As for Lake Norman, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Ragin' Bulls at 6:00 p.m. Hickory Ridge is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
