The North Brunswick Scorpions stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 82-57 margin over South Brunswick. Given North Brunswick's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while South Brunswick is ranked 498th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Brunswick found their leader in underclassman Matthew McKenny, who scored 17 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McKenny has scored all season. Malakhi Daniels was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven assists and seven steals.
Despite the loss, South Brunswick still got an impressive performance from Jeremiah Ellis, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Jackson-Brown, who scored nine points.
North Brunswick is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which somehow isn't as good as their 14-4 record this season. As for South Brunswick, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15.
North Brunswick will take on Hoggard at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Hoggard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for South Brunswick, they will head out on the road to take on Ashley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ashley is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
