San Juan is 2-8 against Duchesne since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. San Juan will take on Duchesne at 2:00 p.m. The last three games San Juan has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Last Tuesday, San Juan didn't have quite enough to beat Gunnison Valley and fell 10-8.
Khatira Keith was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Madden Perkins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Duchesne waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against Millard as they made off with a 17-7 victory. The result was nothing new for Duchesne, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Duchesne let Claire Anderton and Chezney Farnsworth run wild. Anderton went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Farnsworth scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Larsen, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Duchesne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millard only posted an OBP of .375.
Duchesne pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for San Juan, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
San Juan was able to grind out a solid win over Duchesne in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 9-5. Will San Juan repeat their success, or does Duchesne has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
