Softball Recap: Minarets Has No Trouble Against Parlier

Minarets's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Parlier Panthers 12-1. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

Addison Lafferty spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Minarets got a massive performance out of Addy Nielsen, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. Those three stolen bases gave Nielsen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zaphara Byron-Hamilton, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Minarets always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory snapped Minarets' losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-12 record. As for Parlier, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Minarets is set to square off against their familiar foe Fresno Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Parlier will take on rival Yosemite at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
