Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Niles' Winning Streak

After flying high against Sturgis last Friday, Niles came back down to earth. The Niles Vikings fell 64-52 to the Portage Northern Huskies on Tuesday. The Vikings were probably out for revenge after losing 57-42 to them when the teams met back in February of 2020, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The loss snapped Niles' winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record. As for Portage Northern, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Niles will head out on the road to square off against Paw Paw at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Paw Paw will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Niles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Portage Northern, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gull Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Portage Northern knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Gull Lake likes a good challenge.
