Softball Recap: Hawthorne Wins Going Away Against Eastside

Hawthorne won the last time they faced Eastside and things went their way on Monday too. The Hornets blew past the Rams 16-4. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Hawthorne got a massive performance out of Holly Moore, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Moore also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Xia Williams, who scored two runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-3.

Hawthorne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Hawthorne and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Eastside, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11-1.

Looking ahead, Eastside will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Saint Francis Catholic at 6:30 p.m. Hawthorne will be paying especially close attention to the Rams' match: after the Rams faces off against Countryside Christian, they'll take on Hawthorne again at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
