Foster is 2-8 against Sammamish since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Foster Bulldogs will square off against the Sammamish RedHawks at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Foster walked away with it. They took down the Red Hawks 63-45 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Foster.
Mia Pittman and Ariyana Deloney were among the main playmakers for Foster as the former scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals and the latter scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Deloney has scored at least a third of Foster's points. Another player making a difference was Monaea Allen, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Sammamish had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They blew past Lindbergh 59-26 on the road. Sammamish has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Sophia Eastman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 32 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tezi Lyons, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Foster's victory bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Sammamish, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Foster have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sammamish struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Foster came up short against Sammamish when the teams last played back in January, falling 48-36. Can Foster avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
