The Southeast Alamance Stallions are taking a road trip to take on the North Moore Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Southeast Alamance was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bartlett Yancey on Wednesday. The Stallions put the hurt on the Buccaneers with a sharp 17-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Stallions considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Tatum Shelton made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Shelton was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie Lloyd, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 12 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlie Austin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Southeast Alamance always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, North Moore made easy work of Chatham Charter on Wednesday and carried off a 12-2 victory.
Like Southeast Alamance, North Moore also got a great game from a two-way player: Sydney Russell. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Russell was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Carly Monroe and Ansley Preslar did most of the damage at the plate: Monroe scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Preslar went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Patterson, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
North Moore is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Southeast Alamance, their record now sits at 6-7.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southeast Alamance hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like North Moore struggles in that department as they've averaged .405. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Southeast Alamance suffered a grim 22-13 defeat to North Moore when the teams last played back in March. Can the Stallions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
