Basketball Game Preview: Highland Tech Rams vs. Burns Bulldogs

Highland Tech is 0-9 against Burns since November of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Highland Tech Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Burns Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Highland Tech comes in on three and Burns on six.

Highland Tech is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 72-36 win over East Gaston. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-21.

Elijah Sherrill continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds. His evening made it 21 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Garrick Spake, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points and six boards.

Highland Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Burns hadn't done well against Shelby recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Burns put the hurt on Shelby with a sharp 90-64 victory. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Highland Tech now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Burns, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Highland Tech lost to Burns on the road by a decisive 69-53 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Highland Tech avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
