Sagemont's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Morningside Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on February 15th. Sagemont knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Morningside Academy likes a good challenge.
Sagemont had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 63-31 win over Dade Christian on the road. Sagemont has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Patrick Liburd continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Kee, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Morningside Academy earned a 51-39 victory over Merritt Island Christian on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Morningside Academy.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Morningside Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marvin Tidas, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tidas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elijah Clifford, who scored 13 points.
Sagemont has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Morningside Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 16-11.
Thursday's matchup is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Sagemont have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Morningside Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.3 rebounds per game.
