The Founders Classical Academy Hoplites suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 45-21 loss at the hands of Lifegate Christian. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Founders Classical Academy has scored all season.
Several Hoplites players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Savannah Whyle, who scored 13 points along with six steals. Whyle is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Lilly Hammond was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Founders Classical Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lifegate Christian racked up 13 assists.
Lifegate Christian was led to victory by Anelyna Cavazos and Elena Mendez. Cavazos dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Mendez dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mendez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Crow, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Founders Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Lifegate Christian, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Founders Classical Academy will take on Salem Sayers Baptist Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lifegate Christian, they will be playing at home against Annapolis Christian Academy at 11:00 p.m. on Friday. Annapolis Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1500th, while Lifegate Christian is ranked 679th).
