Anna (AK) Fortner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Katie Salazar was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Hayden Rimkus was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Leakey's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-13-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.
