The South Putnam Eagles will face off against the Eminence Eels at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. South Putnam is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
South Putnam's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past North Central 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Alyssa Pingleton was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, South Putnam let Elliana Cox and Danae Cline run wild. Cox got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Cline got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Cline has posted since back in April of 2024. Pepper Rice was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
South Putnam always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Eminence sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over North Montgomery on Saturday.
Eminence pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for South Putnam, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
South Putnam took their win against Eminence when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 15-3 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Eels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
