Basketball Recap: Mia Garcia Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Forest Lake Academy

City of Life Christian Academy's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They secured a 47-42 W over the Forest Lake Academy Panthers. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

City of Life Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Garcia, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 13 points, to go along with eight steals and seven boards. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 25 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Witt, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 15 points and three steals.

Forest Lake Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Maynard, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Alyssa Vazquez was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine steals.

City of Life Christian Academy pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Forest Lake Academy, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

City of Life Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 65-19 defeat against Gateway on the 3rd. As for Forest Lake Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-32 loss against Altamonte Christian on the 3rd.
