Perry has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Spalding Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Two weeks ago, Perry strolled past Baldwin with points to spare, taking the game 33-16. Given Perry's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Baldwin is ranked 125th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ahmad Gordon, who rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Gordon is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Dakarai Anderson was another key contributor, gaining 95 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Spalding put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 48-21 victory over Westside. The result was nothing new for Spalding, who have now won six contests by 27 points or more so far this season.
Spalding's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robert Henderson, who picked up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Cedric Evans was in the mix as well, providing Spalding with two touchdowns.
Perry's win was their seventh straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.0 points per game. As for Spalding, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Perry has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 423.8 total yards per game. It's a different story for Spalding, though, as they've been averaging only 206.3 per game. Will Perry be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will Spalding flip the ?
Everything came up roses for Perry against Spalding when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 40-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Perry since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
