Basketball Recap: Franklin Drops Season-High Score on Socorro

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Franklin). They blew past the Socorro Bulldogs 81-19 on Friday. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Franklin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allison De La O, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine steals. The game was De La O's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Lee, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Franklin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 22 consecutive contests.

Franklin has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Socorro, they dropped their record down to 11-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Eastlake at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Socorro, they will take on Andress in a tournament on Thursday.
