Duchesne hasn't had much luck against St. Dominic recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pioneers will be playing at home against the Crusaders at 6:00 p.m.
On Wednesday, Duchesne came up short against St. Francis Borgia and fell 3-1.
Duchesne started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-20, 25-8, 25-10.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tyler Severs, who had ten digs and three assists.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Dominic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against Westminster Christian on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.
The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-12, 25-21.
St. Dominic's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. As for Duchesne, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Duchesne has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 4.6 aces per game. However, it's not like St. Dominic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Duchesne might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from St. Dominic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Pioneers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more volleyball content.
