San Pasqual Valley has struggled against Salome recently, as their game on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, San Pasqual Valley saw an underclassman step up: Isaiah Martinez dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Martinez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Solomon Durand, who scored six points.
Salome's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Smith, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Smith scored 15 or more points. Edgar Gamez was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
San Pasqual Valley's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Salome, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-7.
