The Laytonville Warriors's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Point Arena Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Laytonville earned a 50-40 win over Potter Valley.
In what's become a running theme this season, Point Arena gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They breezed by Potter Valley at home to the tune of 91-26. Given Point Arena's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 726th, while Potter Valley is ranked 1462nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Point Arena's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dauki Bechtol led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bechtol has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Billy, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Laytonville's victory bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Point Arena, they pushed their record up to 16-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Laytonville was dealt a bruising 98-31 defeat at the hands of Point Arena when the teams last played back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Laytonville was down 62-16.
