On Friday, the stars were shining brightly for Nelson Island in a 61-46 victory over Kongiganak. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Nelson Island.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nelson Island to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zachary Angaiak, who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Brennan Lincoln, who scored 17 points.
Despite the loss, Kongiganak still got an impressive performance from Jarrett Brown, who scored 29 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Daniel, who scored eight points.
Nelson Island's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Kongiganak, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nelson Island is on the road again on Saturday and play against Lewis Angapak at 10:30 a.m. on December 16th. As for Kongiganak, they will take on Chief Paul Memorial at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
