The Brandon Blackhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to Clio. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Brandon of the 66-61 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Brandon still got an impressive performance from Riley Abney, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and five steals. That was a full 55.6% of Brandon's points, marking the 13th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Williamson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Ellie Neuhaus was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds for Clio. Neuhaus is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last ten games she's played. Persia Davis was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Brandon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Clio, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Brandon will head out on the road to square off against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clio, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Lake Fenton is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
