Warwick is 0-3 against Cornwall Central since September of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Warwick Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Cornwall Central Dragons at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Warwick fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They had just enough and edged Washingtonville out 19-16.
Johnny Accardo was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 90 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Cornwall Central put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Our Lady of Lourdes for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-22 victory on the road. Considering Cornwall Central has won seven contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Tyler Vanderpool continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 321 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 17.8 yards per carry. Vanderpool really tore up the turf during one magnificent 89-yard run. Dylan Verswyveld also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Cornwall Central's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Jaziah Maisonet and his two sacks.
Warwick is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Cornwall Central, their victory was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0.
Warwick was taken down by Cornwall Central 42-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2021. Thankfully for Warwick, Jack Diamond (who threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
