Georgetown gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington Blue Jays 7-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the G-Men also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2021.
Bradley Ison and Xavier Ernst made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Ison struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Ernst tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Ison scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Ernst scored a run while going 2-for-3.
